Shellharbour: Where whales, waves and cultural wonders await

Shellharbour is a beautiful destination year-round, but spring brings a unique magic to this coastal gem. With the arrival of special visitors – the Humpback and Southern Right Whales, this season offers an unforgettable experience.

Humpbacks are known for their spectacular displays. Shellharbour offers some of the best vantage points for whale watching. Whether you’re at Bass Point Reserve, Shellharbour Harbour, or the elevated lookouts at Killalea Regional Park, you’re in for a treat. Once the calves breach, it’s playtime! Whereas when the adult males breach, it’s a show of strength to attract a mate. The bigger the splash, the better!
